A UK Apostille is a certification that is attached to a document to verify its authenticity and to ensure that it can be used in another country. The Apostille is a legal certification that is recognized by countries that are parties to the Hague Convention Abolishing the Requirement for Legalization of Foreign Public Documents.

The UK government’s Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) is responsible for issuing Apostilles in the UK. The FCO verifies that the signature, seal or stamp on the document is genuine and that the person who signed or sealed it had the authority to do so. The Apostille also confirms the identity and capacity of any signature or seal affixed to the document.

The UK Apostille is commonly required for legal documents such as birth, marriage and death certificates, academic qualifications, and powers of attorney. It is also used for commercial documents such as contracts, agreements, and certificates of incorporation.

Once a document has been issued with an Apostille, it can be used in any country that is a party to the Hague Convention, without the need for any further legalization or certification.

We obtain Apostilles for our clients on a daily basis, please do get in touch if you would like us to help you.
